Statement

I seek hope amidst the backdrop of loss and mourning. My artistic process investigates the ordinary aspects of life through the genres of still life, nature, and figuration, all observed through the lens of loss. In my art, I confront the irreversible desolation of time loss with family and the painful reality of losing loved ones. I embrace the promise of hope that accompanies each new day. The radiant sun and the melodic birds outside my window remind me that renewal and growth are perpetual possibilities.

A dynamic flow courses through my paintings, propelling me from darkness into the realm of light. My creations are immersed in saturations of obscurity, and grapple with questions of death and loss- some resolved while others linger, awaiting the next brush stroke. From a bird's-eye view to an ascent toward the celestial plane, my art provides an unconventional perspective, inviting viewers to join me on this journey toward hope.

Artist Bio

Michelle Wild is a fine artist specializing in oil paintings and more recently installation work. Wild, a native of a small town in New York, began her passion at six, when her elementary art teacher recognized her talent and showed her work at Albright Knox Art Gallery, in New York. This early exhibit set her sights on creating art and she has never stopped. Wild currently lives in Georgia with her son, Harrison, and her corgi Winny.

Wild’s colors are saturated and strong. Her inspiration comes from nature and beauty in the everyday. Her paintings have been comprised of still life and nature. Wild’s captivating art is also inspired from dealing with the difficulty in losing loved ones and time with those she loves. She wants to exude a hope in her oil paintings by the strong light, creating beauty in her work that transcends the ordinary with darks and lights. Wild shares that titles to her works offers an opening to share about difficult things. Another interesting aspect of Wild’s work is that she creates works of art while praying. Generally, there is a need a friend or family member has and she commits it to prayer while creating. These prayer paintings she paints are often from a celestial view, offering hope.

Wild enjoys giving back to the community and has been involved with donations of works for an auction. While in Colorado she had the opportunity to write a grant and was funded for The Art Exchange, held at The A.R. Mitchell Museum in Trinidad, Colorado. Wild has shared the past 10 years, alongside a women’s organization called, “Peace of Thread,” located in Georgia. Along with her passion for painting, Wild has enjoyed a very fulfilling career at Greater Atlanta Christian School, as an art educator, which began in 2012. She is inspired daily by sharing her passion for art with her students. Her favorite experiences are those with students in a collaborative setting where one work of art is created by many. Wild loves to see creatives come together to make art.

Wild earned a BA from Buffalo State College, NY, with a major in Art Education. Recently, she has completed a lifelong dream of getting her M.A. in painting, at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).

Wild has exhibited her work throughout the United States and sold original and giclee canvas paintings. She has received awards in Georgia, where she regularly shows and also had written work published upon completion of her B.A. Her most recent exhibition includes two paintings shown at Atlanta SCAD sales in 2023-2024.
